EVO announces 2019 lineup, Melee not included
The 2019 EVO lineup was announced Tuesday night, with Super Smash Bros. Melee left off the roster.
The full lineup includes: Street Fighter V, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat 11, Soul Calibur 6, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], Samurai Shodown, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Street Fighter, Tekken, Smash Ultimate and BlazBlue will appear on the championship Sunday main stage, which features one less game than EVO 2018.
Notably, EVO 2019 features one game that hasn’t been released yet in Samurai Shodown, as well as the return of Dragon Ball FighterZ despite being pulled from EVO Japan and other tournaments in late 2018.
Team Liquid drops Salem
On Wednesday afternoon, Team Liquid announced they were dropping Smash Ultimate player Saleem "Salem" Akiel Young.
Known for his colourful personality, Salem often spoke his mind, recently tweeting "finally..." at the news that Super Smash Bros. Melee wouldn't be a main events game at EVO 2019.
Around the same time Team Liquid released the announcement, Salem took to Twitter as well to voice his reaction.
